Print Guide

This page is a resource to help answer common questions about our prints and guide you through the differences between paper and canvas print options.

Most listings show the original painting, which is created on stretched canvas. All prints - whether canvas or paper - are made from the same high-resolution professional scan of the original painting.

Paper prints

Paper print options are printed on 100% cotton cold-press fine art paper. It is archival quality with the lush texture of watercolor paper. They are cut to the selected size with a white border around the edge of the piece.

Paper prints are best displayed in a frame behind glass. Frames often have a matting layer, so the white edge on the print allows for overlap to affix the print behind the mat.

This photo shows a side-by-side of the original (left) and the paper print (right). The photos below show a strip of paper print diagonally across the original painting.

Canvas prints

Canvas prints are printed directly on cotton canvas, which is then varnished, stretched and wired, ready to hang. It is protected by varnish, so it does not need to be behind glass and is best framed in an open floater frame. We offer optional, custom, hand-built hardwood frames that are made here in our studio.
